The Plot :

At twenty-two, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother’s death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life. With no experience or training, driven only by blind will, she would hike more than a thousand miles of the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State—and she would do it alone. Told with suspense and style, sparkling with warmth and humor, Wild powerfully captures the terrors and pleasures of one young woman forging ahead against all odds on a journey that maddened, strengthened, and ultimately healed her.

Review :

Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail, as the name suggests is a book about finding yourself. It is a journey of self-discovery that the author goes through where she is able to dig deep into her past and her fears. Although I did find certain sections of the book a little slow at times, overall it was a good read.

What I loved about this book were the picturesque descriptions. The one important lesson I think I took away from the read was the realisation that forgiving ourselves for past mistakes is the only way to move on and embrace how they change and define us.

The Fault in Our StarsTitle : The Fault In Our Stars

Author : John Green

ISBN-10 :  0141345659

ISBN-13 : 978-0141345659

Paperback : 336 pages

The Plot :

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.

Insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw, The Fault in Our Stars is award-winning author John Green’s most ambitious and heartbreaking work yet, brilliantly exploring the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

Review :

I avoided reading this book for quite a long time, mainly because it seemed like a run of the mill teen book. But once I read it, I definitely enjoyed it. I loved the writing and the humour while dealing with such a serious subject. A quick read but it stays with you a while.

This is one of the rare books where I found the movie adaptation was equally good.
